We are passionate about water. Without water, life would not exist. And yet, some of us have access to clean, drinkable water, but take it for granted.  Believe it or not, WaterSeer was born out of a conversation between co-founders Don and Nancy at a small restaurant in 2015.

They are problem solvers. It’s what they do. And when they learned that almost 700 million people had no access to clean water, a global issue many are unaware of…something not only needed to be done, but it had to be better than the solutions already out there. Together, they invented WaterSeer.

In early 2016, they partnered with the National Peace Corps Association and launched an engineering challenge at UC Berkeley with the students at the Sutardja Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology to improve the industrial design and yield of WaterSeer.

The students had rich and wonderful ideas, but they didn’t come up with the final concept. With Don’s engineering background, he used the best applications and began building a new WaterSeer design.

Now here’s the deal. When Don presented to Nancy his sketch of how he envisioned WaterSeer, well, she thought it was ugly and would have none of it. Nancy insisted not only does it have to produce and have amazing capability, but it must be beautiful in form and function.

And so, the first generation WaterSeer was born.

We all come from different places, and we don’t always agree, but it always creates a better result. It’s what drove us to have a successful crowdfunding campaign in late 2016. Nancy and Don are inspired by people who follow through on their commitment to make things better. It’s why our company is made up of innovators, engineers, industrial designers, and business leaders. We came together to formulate this visual timeline as we progress through our schedule and reach each milestone.

WaterSeer started as an innovative concept and it’s becoming a revolutionary reality. It started as an ugly sketch, to a beautiful 3D model our community fell in love with, and now to an advanced prototype that will be unveiled in the coming weeks.

We owe a huge thanks to our community for joining us on this awesome journey, and we hope that you’ll continue to be a part of our story.

Because honestly, the adventure has only begun.
